SOME WORDS IN DOUBLE KNITTING
In this technique we knit with both yarns at the same time. One square in chart means 2 stitches: the first one is knitted and the second one is purled. The color of yarn who knit or purl is indicated in pattern, but both yarn has to be in the same side; for example: if you knit with color A also the color B is on knit side, if you purl both yarn are on purl side.

SPECIAL NOTES:
The cowl is knitted putting double the yarn. We suggest to use the center and outer thread of the same yarn ball, otherwise you have to use 4 different balls.

INSTRUCTIONS

Hat Border
With both color (put double) and 4.50 mm point, loosely cast on 144 sts with two color cast-on and prepare to knit in round.
Knit in Double Knitting in round, repeating three times the chart. Once knitted row 18 continue knit decrease row as follow:

1DK, 1DKdc, (2DK, 1DKdc), rep until 2 stitches remains, 1DK.

Hat body:

Change to point of 4,00 mm. Continue in Brioche Stitch as follow for 19 cm total (including border section)

Row 1 (col B): (1brK, sl1yo) rep till the end.

Row 1 (col A): (sl1yo, 1brP), rep till the end.

Repeat this 2 rows.

At 19 cm total, knit a decrease row as follow:

Row 1 (col B): 1brK, sl1yo [ brLsl, sl1yo, (1brK, sl1yo)x7 times] knit from [ to ] 5 times, brLsl, (1brK, sl1yo)x6 times.

Ferro 1 (col A): (sl1yo, 1brP) repeat till the and of row

We now have 6 total decreases separate with 7 brioche ribs

Knit now entire row in simple brioche.

Repeat decrease row with simple brioche row, knitting decrees above the decrease in previous row.

For example the next decrees row will be knitted as follow:

Ferro 3 (col B): 1brK, sl1yo [ brLsl, sl1yo, (1brK, sl1yo)x6 times] knit from [ to ] 5 times, brLsl, (1brK, sl1yo)x5 times.

Ferro 3 (col A): (sl1yo, 1brP) repeat till the and of row.
