SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate

Tubular Stitch (cast-on and bind off), rib 2/2, stocking stitch, reverse stocking stitch, graft stitch (for binding off the tubular stitch).

Twisted chain: multiple of 12 sts. foll. the diagram 1, rep. from 1st to 12th r. reaching the stated length.

Cable stitch: multiple of 6 sts. foll. the diagram 2, rep. from 1st to 7th r. reaching the stated length.

6 sts. crossed to the left: slip 3 sts. onto a cable needle ant let it hang in front of work, k4, knit 3 slipped sts. off of cable needle.

8 sts. crossed to the right: slip 4 m. sts. onto a cable needle ant let it hang in back of work, k4, knit 4 slipped sts. off of cable needle.

8 sts. crossed to the left: slip 4 sts. onto a cable needle ant let it hang in front of work, k4, knit 4 slipped sts. off of cable needle.

Procedure

BACK

Using Dolly yarn and no. 3.5 knitting needles, cast-on 115 sts. and, for band shaping, work 2 r. in tubular st. and 12 r. rib 2/2. Use no. 4 knitting needles.

From 1st to 128th r.: stocking st.

129th r.: for neckline shaping, bind off 27 central sts. and continue working 2 pieces separately, as follow:

130th r. and even r.: purl

131st r.: knit, binding off 3 sts. on neckline side.

133rd r.: knit, binding off 2 sts. on neckline side.

135th r.: like 133rd r.

137th r.: knit, binding off 1 st. on neckline side.

139th r.: like 135th r.

From 141st to 148th r.: stocking stitch.

149th r.: bind off all sts. in knit st.

Work the second piece, as given for first one, reversing all shaping.

FRONT

Work as given for back.

SLEEVE

Using Dolly yarn and no. 3.5 knitting needles, cast-on 64 sts. and, for band shaping, work 4 r. in tubular st. and 50 r. rib 2/2. At last, cut the yarn.

Using no. 4 knitting needle and Kid Mohair yarn, work as follow:

1 st. in rev. stocking st., (12 sts. in twisted cable, 1 st. in rev. stocking st., 6 sts. in cable st., 1 st. in rev. stocking st.) 6 times, 12 sts. in twisted cable, 1 st. in rev. stocking st. Across 1st r. of plaited working, increase 70 sts. and, from beginning of 5th r., use no. 4.5 knitting needles.

Work as set for 85 r. in total and across 86th r. bind off the sts. as they appear.

Work the second sleeve as given for first one

FINISHING

Sew the edges of one shoulder on WS.

Neckline band: using no. 3.5 knitting needles, on RS, pick-up 146 sts. around neckline edge (front and back) and work 1 r. in purl, then 8 r. rib 2/2 and 3 r. in tubular st., at last bind off all sts. in graft st. using the darning needle.

Sew the edges of second shoulder and sides of band at neckline.

Open the front and back panels, pin the centre of the top edge of one sleeve at the shoulder seam, pin down half of the sts. of the sleeve along the 1st side of the seam and the other half along the 2nd side of the seam, then sew in place.

Sew side and under sleeve seams.

Hide among the sts. any remaining thread ends.
