BACK

Using no. 5.5 knitting needles, cast-on 80 sts. and work in stocking st. When piece measures 65 cm, bind off all sts.

RIGHT FRONT

Using no. 5.5 knitting needles, cast-on 80 sts. and work in stocking st. At 12 cm from cast-on edge, on RS, bind off the first 18 sts. and then work as foll.: 32 sts. in stocking st. and 30 sts. in rev. stocking st. (across the back r. work the sts. as they appear).

At the same time, on same side where you have bound off the sts., decr. 1 st. every 4 r. 8 times.

Continue working the rem. 54 sts. and, beginning on RS, work as foll.: 24 sts. in stocking st. and 30 sts. in rev. stocking st.

After reaching 65 cm in height, for shoulder shaping, bind off the 30 sts. in rev. stocking st. and cont. working the 24 rem. sts. in stocking st. (12/13 cm more), shaping the first neck section.

Bind off the rem. sts.

LEFT FRONT

Work as given for right front, reversing all shaping

FINISHING

Assemble the front following the diagram.

Pockets: on RS, fold the top edge A of 1st front-panel reaching the side edge B (the joining edges have been highlighted in red) and pin the 2 edges. Rep. the same for 2nd front-panel.

Place one front next to the other one, put the back on 2 panels (RS against RS) and sew the side edges of the 3 panels (included the pocket edge), excluded 25 cm on both sides, for armholes shaping. Sew the shoulders, the edges of 2 neck sections along the back edge of the neckline, at last join the ends of the neck at the centre of back. Turn the waistcoat on RS.

Hide the ends inside the fabric.
