INSTRUCTIONS

Granny motif (diagram 1)

Using no. 5 crochet-hook and one colour of your choice (grey excluded), shape a magic ring.

1st round: 3 ch, 2 tr into the ring, 2 ch, (3 tr into the ring, 2 ch) 3 times; pull the end of the yarn and close the ring, 1 sc in 3rd beg. ch. Cut the yarn and close.

Cont. foll. the diagram 1, and work next 3 rounds using a colour of your choice, then work last 3 rounds with grey col.

Cut the yarn and close, then hide the ends inside the fabric.

Joining of the motifs (diagram 2)

Work 63 granny motifs, changing the colour of first 4 rounds as you like or foll. the picture. After working the 2nd motif, join it to first one or the previous ones, across the 7th round.

At each joining point, work as foll.: after working 1 ch or 1 dc in current motif, remove the crochet-hook and insert it into corresponding ch o dc of adjacent motif (from back to front), pick-up the sts. you have left, yarn over and pull it through both loops on your crochet-hook, 1 ch, cont. working the 7th round of current motif, like shown by the diagram.

Join the granny motifs following the diagram 3. Cont. the joining of the motifs until you have made one panel, that includes the right front, the left front, the sleeves and the back. Fold the panel in half, foll. the red hatch shown by the diagram, then, foll. the same procedure, join the edges of the undersleeves and sides. Across the assembling of the coat, fold (diagonally) the 2 granny motifs of the armpits and, foll. the diagram 3, sew joining the sides A with A, B with B, C with C and D with D.

FINISHING

Using the grey yarn and no. 5 crochet-hook, give the finishing touch to the lower edge of each sleeve, foll the diagram 4.

Hide the ends inside the fabric.

Band with fringes: using no. 5 knitting needle and double green and white yarn, cast-on 5 sts.

1st row: rib 1/1, beg. with k1.

2nd row: work all the sts. as they appear. At last, cut the yarns and leave them on one side.

3rd row and 4th row: using double ochre and red yarn, work the sts. as they appear. Cut the yarns. Always leave the cast-on and bind off yarns on the same side.

Cont. in rib 1/1, alternating the colours every 2 r., as specified.

Work the band of length equal to right and left front, then, using the darning needle and white or clear nylon thread, overcast it along the front edges of the coat. Using the scissors, trim fringes evenly by approx. 5 cm from band edge.
