Procedure
BACK
Using no. 6 knitting needles and col. grey yarn, cast-on 71 sts. and, for band shaping, work 10 r. rib 1/1.
Work 86 r. in stocking st. and, across 87th r., for neckline shaping, bind off 21 central sts., then continue working 2 pieces separately.
First side of neckline
88th r. and even r.: purl 25 rem. sts. on side of neckline.
89th r.: bind off 4 sts. on side of neckline.
91st r.: bind off in knit 21 rem. sts. for the shoulder.
Second side of neckline
Work as given for first one, reversing all shaping.
FRONT
Work the band as given for back, then work 2 r. in stocking stitch.
Across the 3rd r., at central st., join the light blue col. and continue until the 77th r., foll. the diagram.
NB: for heart working, alternate the col. foll. the diagram or as you like. The diagram shows only the even r. (on RS) and every small square corresponds to k1. Across the odd r. (WS), not shown by the diagram, purl all sts. using the same col. of even r. on RS.
78th r.: purl.
79th r.: knit, binding off 15 central sts for neckline shaping, then cont. working 2 pieces separately.
First side of neckline
80th r. and even r.: purl the rem. sts. on neckline side.
81st r.: knit, binding off 3 sts. on neckline side.
83rd r.: knit, binding off 1 st. on neckline side.
85th r.: knit, binding off 1 st. on neckline side.
87th r.: knit, binding off 1 st. on neckline side.
89th r.: knit, binding off 1 st. on neckline side.
91st r.: bind off in knit 21 rem. sts.
Work on second side of neckline as given for first one, reversing all shaping.
SLEEVE
Using col. Grey yarn, cast-on 27 sts. and for band shaping, work 14 r. rib 1/1, alternating the col. as foll.:
From 1st to 4th r.: col. grey.
5th and 6th r.: col. light blue.
7th r.: col. fuchsia.
8th r.: col. white.
9th and 10th r.: col. pink.
From 11th to 14th r.: col. grey.
Always using col. grey, cont. working 74 r. more in stocking st., incr. 16 sts. across the 1st r.
75th r.: bind off all sts. in knit st.
Work the second sleeve as given for first one.
FINISHING
On WS, sew one shoulder.
Collar: using no. 6 knitting needles and col. grey, pick-up 58 sts. around front and back neckline, then work 14 r. rib 1/1 and across the 15th r. bind off all sts. as they appear.
On WS, sew the second shoulder and side edges of the collar, then sew the side seams, armholes excluded. Sew the undersleeves and assemble the sleeves inside the armholes.
Hide the ends inside the fabric.
