OPENWORK SWEATER WITH FRINGES

YARN = 450 (500) grams of col. 01 VASTO by LAINES DU NORD
INTERCHANGEABLE CIRCULAR NEEDLES = size 4.5 and 5.5 points, 80 cm cable.
SHORT POINTS CIRCULAR NEEDLES = size 4.5 and 5.5 points, 40 cm cable.
OTHERS = stitch marker, row counter, darning needle, scissors, tape measure, waste yarn.
Work the garment in a single piece from down to top until the armholes, then work 2 pieces separately until the shoulders. At last, join the shoulders with 3 needles bind off. Work cast-on and bind off, of collar, with tubular technique.
The instructions below refer to sizes S (M-L), so number before the brackets refers to size S, while numbers into the brackets refer to size M and L.
Tubular stitch. Rib 2/2 in round. Garter stitch. Stocking stitch in round. Stocking stitch in forth-and-back rows.

Procedure
FRONT AND BACK UNTIL ARMHOLES
Tubular cast-on: using circular needles with size 4.5 mm points, 80 cm cable and waste yarn, cast-on 200 (208-216) sts. and close in round, then place one SMb; cut the yarn.
Using Vasto yarn work 3 rounds in tubular st. as foll.:
1st round: (k1, slip 1 p-wise) rep. until end of round.
2nd round: (slip 1 k-wise, p1) rep. until end of round.
3rd round: * k1, hang next st. in back of work, k1, purl the hung st., p1 *, rep. from * to * across the entire round.
Cont. working 18 rounds rib 2/2 and across last round, decr 32 sts. (16 sts. on front, 16 sts. on back) uniformly.
Using size 5.5 points cont. in garter st. as foll., placing 1 SM after 84 (88-92) sts. across 1st round:
1st round: purl until SMb.
2nd round: knit until SMb.
Rep. 1st and 2nd round 5 times (size M: 7 times; size L 9 times) then foll. the instructions from 11th round for all sizes.
11th round: purl until SMb.

Using size 4.5 knitting needles, pick-up 50 sts. along front neckline and 38 sts. along back neckline, close in round and work as foll.:
From 1st to 8th round: rib 2/2 in round, alternating (k2 and p2) until the end of round.
Cont. working the collar in tubular st.
9th round: * k1, hang next st. in front of work, p1, knit the hung st., p1 *, rep. from * to * until the end of round.
10th round: (k1, slip 1 p-wise) rep. until end of round.
11th round: (slip 1 k-wise, p1) rep. until end of round.
Bind off in graft st. using the darning needle.
RIGHT SLEEVE
Tubular cast-on: using size 4.5 points, 80 cm cable (for magic loop) and waste yarn, cast-on 56 (60-64) sts. and close in round, placing the SMb in the center of undersleeve. Cut the yarn.
Using Vasto yarn, work 3 rounds in tubular st. as foll.:
1st round: (k1., slip 1 p-wise) rep. until end of round.
2nd round: (slip 1 k-wise, p1) rep. until end of round.
3rd round: * k1, hang next st. in back of work, k1, purl the hung st., p1 *, rep. from * to * across the entire round.

FINISHING
Remove the waste yarns gently.
Sew top edge of each sleeve around corresponding edge of armhole.
Fringes: prepare 54 pieces of yarns, 28 cm in length (for front) and 140 pieces of yarns, 30 cm in length (for sleeves). Using crochet-hook, fix the fringes on purl central sts. of the sleeves (2 purls = 1 fringe) and on 2 purl segments (only 1 line) of front, like shown by the picture.
Hide the ends. Wet and block. Wear!
