OVERSIZE CHASKA CARDIGAN
DIFFICULTY = Intermediate
YARN = 600 grams of col. 07 CHASKA by LAINES DU NORD
INTERCHANGEABLE CIRCULAR NEEDLES: size 5- 6 mm points, 100- 40 cm cable.
OTHERS = zipper 63 cm in length, stitch marker, darning needle, scissors, tape measure, sewing needle and threadmatching with the cardigan
Work the garment bottom-up in one piece, until reaching the armholes. Divide in 3 parts and continue working separately up to the shoulders, which you will join in graft st. using the darning needle. Work separately the sleeves in back-and-forth rows, then join them around the armholes.
Brioches stitch or false fisherman's rib stitch: even stitches in back-and-forth rows.
Row to prepare the rib 1/1: (k1, p1) rep. across the entire r.
1st r.: * 1 double knit stitch (insert the needle into the below knitted stitch), 1 purl stitch on the purl stitch *, rep. from * to * across the entire r., turn.
2nd r.: like 1st r., (alternate the sts. but use same technique)
Rib 1/1: (k1, p1) rep. across the entire r. Across the next r. work the sts. as they appear.

Procedure
RIGHT FRONT, BACK AND LEFT FRONT UNTIL THE ARMHOLES
Using Caska yarn, circular needles with size 6 mm points and 100 cm cable, cast-on 200 sts. 2 edge sts.
Preparation row: (k1, p1) rep. across the entire r.
Cont. working 56 r. in Brioches st.
Divide the panel in 3 pieces (50 sts. for right front, 100 sts. for back, 50 sts. for left front). Leave 50 sts. of the right front and 50 sts. of the left front on 2 stitch wires.
TOP BACK
Work 100 central sts. in brioche st. for 25 r. then, for shoulders shaping, bind off the sts. as foll.:
1st r.: bind off the first 15 sts. and work in brioche st. until the end of r., turn.
2nd r.: bind off the first 15 sts. and work in brioche st. until the end of r., turn.
There are 70 sts.
Rep. 1st and 2nd r. once more.
After working 4 rows, you have bound off 30 sts. on both sides, then leave the rem. 40 sts. for the collar.
RIGHT FRONT
Pick-up 50 sts. of the right front (you have left) and work 22 r. in brioche st. Leave 20 sts. for the collar (front center) and cont. working 3 r., on rem. 30 sts. then, on side opposite the neckline, bind off 15 sts. every 2 r. twice.
LEFT FRONT
Work as given for right front, reversing all shaping. Using the darning needle, join (RS against RS) the edges of shoulders, front and back.
COLLAR
Using size 5 mm circular needles, 40 cm cable, pick-up 80 sts. you have left around the front/back neckline and work 42 r. rib 1/1. Fold the collar in half and join (sew) last r. with the base of neckline, on WS.
SLEEVES
Using Caska yarn, circular needles with size 6 mm points and 40 cm cable, cast-on 50 sts., do not close in round and work in back-and-forth rows.
From 1st to 10th r.: in brioche st.
11th r. with increases: like set out, increasing 2 sts., 5 times as foll.: inside the knit st. of the rib, work (k1 without dropping yo k1) then drop the st. (= you have increased 2 sts.).
12th r.: in brioche st., purling the yo through the back loop. [60 sts.]
From 13th to 24th r.: rep. from 1st to 12th r. [at the end of 42nd r. there are 70 sts.]
From 25th to 42nd r.: in brioche st., same number of sts.
43rd r.: (k2tog) 35 times. [35 sts.]
Band (cuff)
Using size 5 mm points, work 35 rem. sts. rib 1/1 for 15 r., at last bind off the sts. as they appear.
Work the second sleeve as given for fist one.
Sew the undersleeve seams, then sew the sleeves around the armholes, on WS.
FINISHING
Using the sewing needle and thread matching with the cardigan, sew the zipper on 2 edges of front.
Hide the ends. Wet and block. Wear!
