DETAILED PATTERN INSTRUCTIONS
BACK
Using Young Trendy Solid yarn, cast on 76 sts and work in garter stitch.
At approx. 72 cm from the beginning, bind off the center 22 sts for the neckline and continue working the remaining 25 sts on each side
separately. At 75 cm total height, bind off the 27 shoulder sts on both sides.
RIGHT FRONT
Using Young Trendy solid yarn, cast on 50 sts and work in garter stitch until the piece measures 75 cm. At the end, bind off all sts.
LEFT FRONT
Work as given for the right front.
SLEEVES
Using Young and Trendy Print yarn, cast on 50 sts and work in garter stitch for 18 cm. Switch to Young Trendy Solid yarn and continue in
garter stitch until total length measures 45 cm. Bind off all sts.
ASSEMBLY AND FINISHING
Using a darning needle, sew the 27 sts of each back shoulder to the corresponding 27 sts of each front shoulder, leaving the remaining 23 sts
on each front upper edge unworked for the neckline.
Neck: With circular needles and Young Trendy Solid yarn, pick up 23 sts along the neckline of the first front, 5 sts along the shoulder edge (to
avoid holes), 22 sts along the back neckline, 5 sts along the second shoulder edge, and 23 sts along the neckline of the second front — 78 sts
total. Begin working in garter stitch, decreasing 28 sts evenly across the first r. Continue working over the 50 remaining sts for 20–21 cm. At
the end, bind off all sts.
Pockets:With circular needles and Young Trendy Print yarn, cast on 15 sts and work in garter stitch for 17 cm. Bind off all sts. Work the
second pocket as given for the first one.
Using pins, align the top edge of one sleeve to the center of the side edges of the front and back panels (WS facing), matching the center of
the sleeve with the shoulder seam. Sew in place. Repeat for the second sleeve on the opposite side.
Sew the sides and underarms together with WS facing, making sure to sew about half of the underarm seam of the printed edge on the RS so the seam remains hidden when the cuff is folded up.
Using a darning needle and Young Trendy Print yarn, sew down the sides and bottom of the pockets onto the front panels using small invisible
stitches, placing them as shown in the photos. Weave in all loose ends, soak and block to finish.
INSTRUCTIONS
The garment is made up of 4 rectangular panels: front, back and 2 sleeves, worked separately and sewn together at the end. Pockets are
added to both front panels to complete the coat.
