Easy cardigan and cap
YARN = 350 grams of col. 13 (mustard), 1 ball x foll. col.: 7 (violet), 12 (green), 15 (orange) of SILKY WOOL by LAINES DU NORD; 1 orange ball for cap.
KNITTING NEEDLES: size 3.5 mm, 4 mm and 5 mm knitting needles.
CIRCULAR NEEDLES: size 5 mm points and 40 cm cable.
CROCHET-HOOK: size 3 mm
OTHERS = stitch marker, darning needle with big eye, pins, scissors, tape measure.
The garment consists of 5 pieces: right front, back, left front and sleeves. Work all pieces separately and then join them. Work the sleeves top down in colored stripes

Using mustard col. yarn and size 3.5 mm knitting needles, cast-on 81 sts. and, for band shaping, work 2 r. rib 1/1 with one edge st. at beg. and end (until the end of band) then, using size 4 mm knitting needles, work 8 r. more rib 2/2.
Using size 5 mm knitting needles cont. working 153 r. in stocking st. (always with one edge st. at beg. and end). At 154th r. bind off all sts.
RIGHT FRONT
Using mustard col. and size 3.5 mm knitting needles, cast-on 43 sts. and, for band shaping, work 2 r. rib 1/1 with one edge st. at beg. and end (until the end of band), then using size 4 mm knitting needles work 8 r. more rib 2/2.
Using size 5 mm knitting needles cont. in stocking st., always with edge sts. until the end of panel.
After working 90 r. in stocking st., on right side, for neckline shaping, decrease as foll.:

SLEEVES
Work the sleeves top-down.
Using size 5 mm knitting needle and green yarn, cast-on 75 sts. and work in stocking st., alternating the colors sequence as foll.:
From 1st to 16th r.: col. green.
From 2nd to 30th r.: orange col.
From 31st to 44th r.: violet col.
From 45th to 58th r.: green col.
From 59th to 72nd r.: orange col.
From 73rd to 86th r.: violet col.
From 87th to 99th r.: green col.
100th r. (WS): using green col., work k3, p2tog 35 times, k2; there are 40 sts.
For band shaping (cuff), using size 4 mm knitting needles and mustard col., work 10 r. rib 1/1 and, at last bind off all sts. p-wise on WS.
Work the second sleeve as given for first one.
FINISHING
Sew on WS.
Using mustard col. and darning needle, sew the shoulders, joining top edge of 2 fronts at corresponding 31 sts. of back, there are 19 sts. for neckline. Using crochet-hook and mustard col. yarn, work sl st on 19 sts. of neckline, cut yarn and close.
Pin the top edge of one sleeve along the edge of the 2 joined panels (front/back), positioning the center of the sleeve at the shoulder seam and each half of the sts. on either side of the seam. Then, using the darning needle and mustard col. yarn, sew the edges together in place. Repeat the same process to join the second sleeve on the opposite side of the front/back.
Sew side and undersleeve seams.
Using the crochet hook and mustard col. yarn, finish the opening edges of the 2 fronts with 1 sl st r. on RS. At the end of each finishing r., cut the yarn and secure it.
Using the crochet hook and mustard col. yarn, work 1 finishing r. on the RS of the 2 fronts and back neckline as foll.: 1 sl st in each right front sl st, 1 sc in each of the 19 sc of the back neckline, 1 sl st in each left front sl st. Cut the yarn and close.
Hide the ends. Wet and block. Wear!
PATTERN OF CAP
Single size (1 ball x 15 orange Silky Wool yarn)
Using circular needles with 5- and -6 mm points, 40 cm cable and orange col. yarn, cast-on 112 sts. and close in round, then place 1 SMb.
Rib 4/4.
1st round: (k4, p4) 14 times.
Rep. 1st round until completing 50 rounds, then decr. as foll.:
Round with decreases: (k4, p1, p2tog, k1) 14 times. [98 sts.]
Knit 3 rounds.
Round with decreases: (k4, p1, p2tog) 14 times. [84 sts.]
Knit 3 rounds a dir.
Round with decreases: (k4, p2tog) 14 times. [70 sts.]
Knit 1 round.
Round with decreases: (k1, k2tog, k1, p1) 14 times. [56 sts.]
Knit 1 round.
Round with decreases: (k1, k2tog, p1) 14 times. [42 sts.]
Knit 1 round.
FINISHING
Cut the yarn leaving a long tail. Thread the darning needle and pass it through rem. 42 sts., unthread the circular needles, pull yarn and tighten, then secure the sts. and hide the ends.
