Size S, M: 5 balls (25 g each), col camel
Size L: 6 balls (25 g each), col camel
Straight needles: sizes 3.5 mm, 4 mm and 5 mm
Others: darning needle with a large eye, stitch markers, scissors, measuring tape.
TENSION
10 x 10 cm = 11 stitches and 22 rows, worked in stockinette stitch using 5 mm needles.
It is very important to check your gauge and measure the tension correctly to achieve the same results and measurements as the pattern.
If the gauge is different, try adjusting the needle size up or down by half a size until you get the correct measurement.
STITCHES USED
1x1 Rib
R 1 (RS): (k1, p1) rep to end of row.
R 2 and following r: work sts as they appear.
Stockinette stitch
R 1 (RS): knit all sts.
R 2 (WS): purl all sts.

Procedure
DETAILED PATTERN INSTRUCTIONS
BACK
Using 4 mm needles, cast on 56 (58-60) sts and 24 r in 1x1 rib (approx. 10 cm).
Switch to 5 mm needles and continue in stockinette stitch. After working 24 (28; 32) r or 13 (15;17) cm from the ribbing band, begin shaping
the armholes: bind off 2 sts on both sides, then decrease 1 st at each edge every 2 r, 6 times and then 1 st every 4 r once. 38 sts remain.
Continue working over the same st count until the piece measures 42 (45; 48) cm from the ribbing band. Then, begin shaping the neckline and
shoulders at the same time as follows: bind off the center 6 sts and work each side separately. For the neckline: bind off 3 sts once then 2 sts
twice, always at the neckline edge, every 2 r. At the same time, for shoulder shaping, bind off 3 (4; 5) sts from the outer edge, then 3 sts every
2 r, twice. The finished length of the back panel is 56 cm.
FRONT
Using 4 mm needles, cast on 56 (58-60) sts and 16 r in 1x1 rib (approx. 6 cm).
Switch to 5 mm needles and continue in stockinette stitch, working as given for the back except for the neckline shaping. When the piece
measures 37 (40; 43) cm from the ribbing band, bind off the center 6 sts and work each side separately. At the neckline edge, bind off 2 sts
every 2 r, twice, then 1 st every 2 r, 3 times. At the same time, when the piece measures 42 (45; 48) cm from the ribbing band, shape the
shoulders as given for the back. The finished length of the front panel is 52 cm.
ASSEMBLY AND FINISHING
Sew all seams on the WS.
Sew one shoulder.
Neckband: using 4 mm needles, pick up 20 sts evenly along the back neckline and 36 sts along the front neckline (46 sts total), and work 4 r
in 1x1 rib. Switch to 3.5 mm needles and work 4 more r in 1x1 rib; then bind off all sts loosely. The finished neckband measures approx. 5 cm.
Armhole edging: using 4 mm needles, pick up 44 sts along the front armhole edge (including 16 sts around the shaped area and 28 sts along
the straight edge), and 44 sts along the back armhole edge. Work 4 r in 1x1 rib. Switch to 3.5 mm needles and work 2 more r in 1x1 rib. Bind
off all sts. Work the second armhole edging as given for the first one. Finished armhole edgings measure approx. 3.5 cm.
Sew the side seams along the stockinette sections only. Then sew the ends of the ribbed armhole edgings. The side edges of the lower ribbing
remain open to form side slits.
INSTRUCTIONS
The vest is made up of 2 panels, front and back, with the back panel being slightly longer than the front.
In the detailed pattern instructions, all stitch and row counts are listed for sizes S (M; L). For example, when you see: cast on 56 (58; 60) sts,
this refers to casting on 56 sts for size S, 58 for size M, and 60 for size L.
For left-leaning decreases, work an skp (slip, knit, pass). For right-leaning decreases, work k2tog.
