YARN = TEDDY BAG by Laines du Nordcol. 004 (blue) 235 gr, col. 003 (brown) 200 gr, col. 006 (cream) 60 gr.
CROCHET-HOOK = Size 5 mm and 5.5 mm
OTHERS = Darning needle, scissors, tape measure, stitch marker, optional lining fabric.

SHARE:

10 x 10 cm in back post single crochet using size 5.5 mm crochet-hook = 9 stitches and 7.5 rows.

Single crochet (sc)

Back post single crochet (BPsc): insert the hook into the back loop only of the base stitch and work 1 sc as usual.

Tapestry crochet: Work the single crochet stitches over the unused yarn, enclosing it within the stitches. At each color change, complete the final yarn-over of the last stitch with the new color

Invisible closing: Make an invisible closing at the end of each round for a seamless, even finish.

Procedure

BASE

Using size 5 mm crochet-hook and dark blue yarn, chain 32.

Work in spiral.

Round 1: 1 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, 29 sc, 3 sc in the last ch; continuing along the side opposite the base ch work 29 sc and 2 sc in the last ch. [64 sc]

Round 2: 29 sc, 2 sc in the same stitch 3 times, 29 sc, 2 sc in the same stitch 3 times. [70 sc]

Round 3: 29 sc, *1 increase, 1 sc* 3 times, 29 sc, *1 increase, 1 sc *3 times. [76 sc]

Round 4: 29 sc, *1 increase, 2 sc* 3 times, 29 sc, *1 increase, 2 sc* 3 times. [82 sc]

Round 5: 29 sc, *1 increase, 3 sc* 3 times, 29 sc, *1 increase, 3 sc* 3 times. [88 sc]

Round 6: 29 sc, *1 increase, 4 sc* 3 times, 29 sc, *1 increase, 4 sc* 3 times. [94 sc]









MAIN PART OF THE BAG

Continue in spiral.

From round 7 to round 11: 94 sc.

Close the row 11 with 1 sl st.

Cut the yarn and close.

Switch to size 5.5 mm crochet hook and brown yarn.

From round 12 to round 14: 94 BPsc; invisible closing.

From next round work in tapestry crochet.

Mark the 31 center stitches of the front and back of the bag with stitch markers. Begin the pattern at the first marked stitch









DIAMONDS MOTIF

Note: All single crochet stitches in the diamond pattern are worked in the back loop only. Finish each round with an invisible closing.

Round 15:
(4 brown sc, 1 cream sc, 6 brown sc) x 2,
4 brown sc, 1 cream sc, 4 brown sc, 16 brown sc; repeat on the opposite side. [94 sc]

Round 16:
(3 brown sc, 3 cream sc, 5 brown sc) x 2,
3 brown sc, 3 cream sc, 3 brown sc, 16 brown sc; repeat on the opposite side.

Round 17:
(2 brown sc, 5 cream sc, 4 brown sc) x 2,
2 brown sc, 5 cream sc, 2 brown sc, 16 brown sc; repeat on the opposite side.

Round 18giro:
(1 brown sc, 7 cream sc, 3 brown sc) x 2,

End the tapestry crochet section

UPPER SECTION

Using brown yarn:

From round 24 to round 27: 94 BPsc; invisible closing.

Using dark blue yarn:

Round 28: 94 BPsc; invisible closing.

Round 29 and round 30: 94 sc; invisible closing.

Close with 1 sl st.

Cut the yarn and close.









HANDLES (x 2)

Using size 5.5 mm crochet-hook and dark blue yarn, chain 51 leaving a long sewing tail.

Work in back-and-forth rows

Row 1: 50 sl st, 1 turning ch.

Row 2: 50 sl st, 1 turning ch.

Row 3: 50 sl st.

Cut the yarn leaving a long sewing tail.

Work the second handle as given for the first one.









FINISHING

Place the handles on the front and back of the bag, lining them up with the upper points of the two outer diamonds.

Using the darning needle and the dark blue yarn, securely sew the ends of the handles to the bag.

Weave in all ends on the WS.

Optional: make a lining to fit the inside of the bag and sew it with small invisible stitches along the upper edge.

The shopper is ready to use.

KNITTING INSTRUCTIONS

Work the bag in a single piece, starting from the oval base and continuing in the round until the top opening. The diamonds pattern is worked in tapestry crochet on both the front and back of the bag. The diamonds are separated by 2 base stitches. The handles are made separately and attached after completion.
