POINTS USED

Stocking stitch in round: knit all rounds.

Stocking Stitch in back-and-forth rows

1st r. (RS): knit all sts.

2nd r. (WS): purl all sts.

Always rep. 1st and 2nd row.

INSTRUCTIONS

IRST PIECE

Cast-on 20 sts. (closed) for all sizes: shape a loop on one needle fixing the yarn (leave 15 cm tail to complete the point), then put the needles besides and pass the yarn around both needles, from left to right in 8 shape, until there are 10 sts. on left needle and 10 sts. on right needle; do not count the loop.

From next round, count the rounds and work with “magic loop” technique: * pull right needle and move the sts. of right needle onto the cable, so that you can work the sts. on left needle; after working all sts of left needle, move the sts. from cable to left needle, then rep. from * to *.

1st round: close in round and knit all sts. Place the SMb after last st. you have worked (to mark the end of every round) and untie the cast-on loop.

2nd round: knit all sts and at the end of the round place 1 SM in 1st and in 10th st.

3rd round: knit all sts., incr. 1 st. on both sides of each one of 2 sts. with SM (= yo before the st. with SM, knit the st. with the SM, yo after the st. with SM). [4 increases]

4th round: work all sts. in knit st. and yo in k-tbl.

5th round: knit.

Rep. from 3rd to 5th round: 3 times for sizes 35/36 – 4 times for sizes 37/38 – 5 times for sizes 39/40/41. As you work, move the SM in corresponding sts. you have marked across 2nd round.

After the increases there are: 32 sts. for sizes 35/36 – 36 sts. for sizes 37/38 – 40 sts. for sizes 39/40/41. Continue in the round in stocking st, up to 12 cm x sizes 35/36 - 14 cm x sizes 37/38 - 16 cm x sizes 39/30/41.

SECOND PIECE

Cut the yarn and cont. in stocking st. in back-and-forth r., beg. from center of front; taking as reference 2 SM of the increases, count the sts. between 1st and 2nd SM, divide them in half to locate the center. Slip on left needle the exceeding sts. and remove the SMb.

1st r. (LR): p1, yo, p1, yo, purl all sts. until last 2 sts., yo, p1, yo, p1 [4 increases].

2nd r. (LD): k1, work yo in k-tbl, k1, work yo in k-tbl, k10, 1 decr. (= k2tog), cont. in knit st. until 16 sts. before the end of r. (yo included), 1 decr. (= k2tog), k10, work yo in k-tbl, k1, work yo in k-tbl, k1

Rep. last 2 r. 2 times more.

Cont. in stocking st. reaching the measure of your size (see a.m. table).

Using the crochet-hook, close the slipper in sl st: place one needle beside the other one (same number of sts. on each needle) and using the crochet-hook join the sts. of 2 needle in sl st (beginning from top); every time insert the crochet-hook through 1 st. of right needle, 1 st. of left needle and close them together working 1 sl st.

HEEL: fold the lower point and sew (on WS) 4 cm horizontally approx. You get a triangle in excess. Cut it and using the darning needle give the finishing touch to cut edge.

POINT: using crochet-hook and cast-on tail, work 10 sl st around the point joining the cast-on sts.

FINISHING IN ROUND AROUNT THE OPENING (TOP PART OF THE SLIPPER): beginning from center of front, pick-up 42 sts. for sizes 35/36 – 46 sts. for sizes 37/38 – 48/50 sts. for sizes 39/40/41; same number of sts. on each side, i.e. 46 sts. = 23 sts. on the right and 23 sts. on the left.

Work 3 rounds in stocking st. and across 4th round bind off the sts.

TONGUE: pick-up 6 sts. at top part of back and work 5 r. in stocking st. in back-and-forth r., then across 6th r. bind off all sts.

Hide the ends on WS.

Work the second slipper as given for first one.
