SHARE:

The dress is made in 2 parts (bodice and skirt), each worked on the 2 opposite sides of the foundation chain of the bodice. The bodice is worked from bottom to top, while the skirt is worked from top to bottom.

Chain stitch, slip stitch, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, treble crochet.

Procedure

FINISHING
Using taupe yarn and a 3 mm crochet hook, work 1 finishing row of sc along each edge of the back opening at the center back. While working along the right edge, create 2 buttonholes, one at the end of the collar. Sew the buttons on the left edge, aligning them with the buttonholes.
Using taupe yarn and a 3 mm crochet hook, work 3 rounds of edging around each armhole. Weave in all ends. Wet and block. Wear!

BODICE (front and back)

Work the bodice following the instructions below and refer to diagram 1 for the wave pattern.
Using a 3 mm crochet hook and taupe-colored yarn, ch 170 and join into a ring with a sl st in the beg. ch, making sure not to twist the ch.

Round 1: 3 ch (count as the 1st dc of all rounds), 1 dc in each ch of the round; 1 sl st in the 3rd beg. ch. [170 dc; 3 beg. ch included]

Rounds 2 and 3: 3 ch, 1 dc in each st of the round; 1 sl st in the 3rd beg. ch. [170 sts]

Round 4: 3 ch,2 dc, 1 hdc, (4 sc, 1 sl st, 4 sc, 1 hdc, 6 dc, 1 hdc) 9 times, 4 sc, 1 sl st, 4 sc, 1 hdc, 3 dc; 1 sl st in the 3rd beg. ch. [10 reps of 17 sts]

Round 5: 3 ch and 1 dc in the 1st dc, 2 dc in each of the next 2 dc, skip 1 hdc, (1 hdc in the next sc, skip 1 sc, 1 sc in the next sc, skip 1 sc, 1 sc in the next sl st, skip 1 sc, 1 sc in the next sc, skip 1 sc, 1 hdc in the next sc, skip 1 hdc, 2 dc in each of the next 6 dc, skip 1 hdc) 10 times, omitting the last 3 groups of 2 dc in the last rep; 1 sl st in the 3rd beg. ch.

Change to mustard yarn, then cut the taupe yarn.

Round 6: 3 ch, 1 dc in each st until the end of the round; 1 sl st in the 3rd beg. ch. [170 sts]

Round 7: rep. round 5.

Round 8: rep. round 6.

Round 9: rep. round 5.

Round 10: rep. round 6.

Change to sand yarn, then cut the mustard yarn.

Round 11: rep. round 5.

Round 12: 3 ch, 1 dc in the next 5 dc, (1 hdc in the next 5 sts, 1 dc in the next 12 dc) 10 times, omitting the last 6 dc in the last rep; 1 sl st in the 3rd beg. ch.

Round 13: 3 ch and 1 dc in the 1st dc, 2 dc in each of the next 2 dc, skip 1 dc,1 hdc in the next dc, skip 1 dc, (1 sc in the next hdc, skip 1 hdc, 1 sc in the next hdc, skip 1 hdc, 1 sc in the next hdc, skip 1 dc, 1 hdc in the next dc, skip 1 dc, 2 dc in each of the next 6 dc, skip 1 dc, 1 hdc in the next dc) 10 times, omitting the last 3 groups of 2 dc and the last hdc in the last rep.; 1 sl st in the 3rd beg. ch.

Round 14: rep. round 12.

Round 15: rep. round 13.

Round 16: 1 ch (doesn’t count as a st) and 1 sc in the 1st dc, 1 sc in each of the next 2 dc, 2 sc in the next dc, 2 hdc in the next dc, 2 dc in the next dc, (5 dc tog over the next 5 sts, 2 dc in the next dc, 2 hdc in the next dc, 2 sc in the next dc, 1 sc in each of the next 6 dc, 2 sc in the next dc, 2 hdc in the next dc, 2 dc in the next dc) 9 times, 5 dc tog over the next 5 sts, 2 dc in the next dc, 2 hdc in the next dc, 2 sc in the next dc, 1 sc in each of the last 3 dc; 1 sl st in the beg. sc of the round.

Round 17: 3 ch, 1 dc in the next 5 sts, 3 dc tog over the next 3 sts, (1 tr over the next 5-dc-tog group, 3 dc tog. over the next 3 sts, 1 dc in the next 12 sts, 3 dc tog. over the next 3 sts) 9 times, 1 tr over the next 5-tr-tog group, 3 dc tog. over the next 3 sts, 1 dc in the last 6 dc; 1 sl st in the 3rd beg. ch.

Round 18: 3 ch, 1 dc in the next 5 dc, * 3 dc tog. (working the 1st leg in group of 3 dc tog, the 2nd leg in the tr and the 3rd leg in the next group of 3 dc tog), 1 dc in the next 12 dc *, rep. from * to * 8 more times, 3 dc tog (working the 1st leg in the group of 3 dc tog, the 2nd leg in the tr and the 3rd leg in the next group of 3 dc tog), 1 dc in the last 6 dc; 1 sl st in the 3rd beg. ch.

Round 19: 3 ch, 1 dc in each st of the round. [130 sts; 3 beg. ch included]

Rounds 20 and 21: 3 ch, 1 dc in each dc of the round. [130 sts]

Round 22: 3 ch, 1 dc in the next 10 dc, 2 dc tog, (1 dc in the next 11 dc, 2 dc tog) 9 times; 1 sl st in the 3rd beg. ch. [120 sts]

Rounds 23 and 24: 3 ch, 1 dc in each st of the round. [120 sts]

Do not cut the yarn.

Divide the sts in half, leaving 60 sts for the front and 60 sts for the back, making sure the joining line of the rounds is at the side of the bodice. Continue working the top front in back-and-forth rows.




BODICE (top front)

Row 25 (RS): 3 ch (count as the 1st dc of all rows), 1 dc in the next 59 dc, ch 1, turn.

Row 26 (WS): 2 sc tog. over the first 2 sts, 2 sc, 1 sl st, (4 sc, 1 hdc, 6 dc, 1 hdc, 4 sc, 1 sl st) 3 times, 2 sc, 2 sc tog. over the last 2 sts, ch 1, turn.

Row 27: 1 sc in the next sc, skip 1 sc, 1 sc in the sl st, skip 1 sc, 1 sc in the next sc, (skip 1 sc, 1 hdc in the next sc, skip 1 hdc, 2 dc in each of the next 6 dc, skip 1 hdc, 1 hdc in the next sc, skip 1 sc, 1 sc in the next sc, skip 1 sc, 1 sc in the next sl st, skip 1 sc, 1 sc in the next sc) 3 times, turn.

Change to mustard yarn and cut the taupe yarn. Then, cont. working in back-and-forth rows, following diagram2, alternating colors as foll: rows 28 to 32 in mustard, rows 33 to 37 in sand and rows 38 to 43 in taupe again. At the end of row 43, cut the yarn and fasten off.





BODICE (top back)

Row 1 (RS): for armhole shaping, skip the 5 next sts after the 60th dc of the top front. Using a 3 mm crochet hook, join taupe yarn in the next dc and ch 3 (counts as the 1st dc), 1 dc in the next 48 dc, turn, leaving the last 6 sts unworked for the second armhole shaping). [49 sts; 3 beg. ch included]

Row 2 (WS): 2 ch and 1 dc tog. on the first 2 sts, 45 dc, 2 dc tog. on the last 2 sts, turn. [47 sts]

Row 3: 2 ch and 1 dc tog. on the first 2 sts, 43 dc, 2 dc tog. on the last 2 sts, turn. [45 sts]

Row 4: 2 ch and 1 dc tog. on the first 2 sts, 41 dc, 2 dc tog. on the last 2 sts, turn. [43 sts]

Row 5: 2 ch and 1 dc tog. on the first 2 sts, 39 dc, 2 dc tog. on the last 2 sts, turn. [41 sts]

Row 6: 2 ch and 1 dc tog. on the first 2 sts, 37 dc, 2 dc tog. on the last 2 sts, turn. [39 sts]

Row 7: 2 ch and 1 dc tog. on the first 2 sts, 35 dc, 2 dc tog. on the last 2 sts, turn. [37 sts]


Cont. separately on the 20 stsof both sides of row 7, making sure to work the 3 central sts in front loop only first, then in back loop only, to create the overlap for the button band.

Row 8 (WS): 2 ch and 1 dc tog. on the first 2 sts, 15 dc, 3 dc in front loop only (inserting the crochet hook into the front loop of the base sts only), turn, leaving the remaining sts unworked. [19 sts.]

Row 9 (RS): 3 ch, 1 dc in the next 16 sts, 2 dc tog on the first 2 sts, turn. [18 sts]

Row 10: 2 ch and 1 dc tog on the first 2 sts, 16 dc, turn. [17 sts]

Row 11: 3 ch, 1 dc in the next 14 sts, 2 dc tog. on the last 2 sts, turn. [16 sts]

Rows 12 to 16: 3 ch, 1 dc in the next 15 sts, turn. [16 sts]

At the end of row 16, leave the work on hold temporarily.

Resume working in the free back loops of the 3 central sts and in the 17 unworked sts of row 7 of the top back.

Row 8 variation (WS): using a 3 mm crochet hook, join a new ball of taupe yarn in the 1st of the 3 unworked (or free) back loops of row 7 and ch 3 (counts as the 1st dc of all rows), 1 dc in back loop only in each of the 2 unworked back loops of the next 2 sts of row 7, then cont. working 1 dc in the next 15 unworked sts. of the same row and 2 dc tog. over the last 2 sts, turn. [19 sts]

Row 9 variation (RS): 2 chand 1 dc tog, 1 dc in the next 17 sts, turn. [18 sts]

Row 10 variation: 3 ch, 1 dc in the next 15 sts, 2 dc tog over the last 2 sts, turn. [17 sts]

Row 11 variation: 2 chand 1 dc tog, 1 dc in the next 15 sts, turn. [16 sts]

Rows 12 to 16 variation: 3 ch, 1 dc in the next 15 sts, turn. At the end of row 16, cut the yarn and fasten off.

Continue shaping the collar.

Row 17 (RS): pick up the working loop from row 16 on hold, turn and ch 1 (doesn’t count as a st), 1 sc in the same base st as the ch, 1 sc in the next 15 sts, do not turn and ch 12 to close the first armhole, 29 sc across the 29 sts of the last row of the top front, ch 12 to close the second armhole, 16 sc across the 16 dc of the other side of the top back, ch 1, turn.

Row 18: 1 sc in each st and ch of the row, ch 1, turn.

Rows 19 to 21: 1 sc in each st, ch 1, turn. Cut the yarn and fasten off.




SKIRT

Turn the bodice upside down and work on the opposite side of the front and back foundation ch. Using a 3 mm crochet hook, join the taupe yarn to the opposite side of the 1st foundation ch at the side.

Round 1: 3 ch (count as the 1st dc of the round), 1 dc on the opposite side of each foundation ch of the 1st round of the bodice; 1 sl st in the 3rd beg. ch. [170 sts, 3 beg. ch included]

Rounds 2 to 36: 3 ch, 1 dc in each dc of the round; 1 sl st in the 3rd beg. ch.

Switch to a 3.5 mm crochet hook.

Rounds 37 to 63: 3 ch, 1 dc in each dc of the round; 1 sl st in the 3rd beg. ch.

Cut the yarn and fasten off.
