POINTS USED

Rib 1/1 in back-and-forth r.
1st r.: (k1, p1) across the entire r.
2nd r. and next r.: work all sts. as they appear reaching the stated length.

Rib 1/1 in rounds:
1st round: (k1, p1) across the entire r. Always rep. 1st round. For neckline shaping, using circular needles.

Selvages: at beg. of every r. in patterned st., slip 1st st. k-wise; at end of every r. in patterned st. knit last st.

Patterned stitch: even number of stitches.
1st r. (RS): 1 selvage, * 1 increase = k1 in back thread of next st. (like when you knit through back loop) without dropping the st., knit second st. in back thread of same st. and now drop the base st. from left needle *, rep. from * to * across the entire r., 1 selvage.
2nd r. (WS): 1 selvage, * p1 in 1st st. of next 2-sts-group, drop the worked and not worked st. too, from left needle *, rep. from * to * across the entire r., 1 selvage.
3rd r. (RS): 1 selvage, * insert the right needle into the st. that’s under next st. (st. of prev. r.), from front to back, yo and pull one st., using the left needle, pick-up new st. from right needle turning it slightly (put it on left needle like a knit st.), insert the right needle through first 2 sts. on left needle and slip them on right needle *, rep. from * to * across the entire r., 1 selvage.
4° r. (WS): 1 selvage, k2tog through back loop in each couple of sts. across the entire r., 1 selvage. (k2tog through back loop= insert the needle in the back thread of 2 sts. and then knit them together)

INSTRUCTIONS

BACK

Using knitting needles size 6, cast-on 124 sts. and, for band shaping, work 10 cm rib 2/2. Cont. working 50 cm in patterned st. When the piece measures 60 cm, bind off all sts in knit.

FRONT

Work as given for back up to 55 cm from rib band and, for neckline shaping, bind off 34 central sts., then on both sides of neckline, decr. 1 st. every 2 r. (always on RS) twice. When the piece measures 60 cm, bind off the rem. sts. for each shoulder.

SLEEVE (x 2)

Using size 6 knitting needles, cast-on 60 sts., and for band shaping, work 10 cm rib 1/1. Cont. working 45 cm in patterned st. and when piece measures 55 cm, bind off all sts.

Work second sleeve like first one.

FINISHING

Sew on WS.

Using darning needle, sew the edges (front and back) of each shoulder. Using circular needle with size 6 points, on RS, pick-up all sts. around the neckline and work 6 r. rib 1/1. At last, bind off all sts. as they appear.

Join the top edge of one sleeve along the side edge of front and back, pointing the central st. of the sleeve at seam of the shoulder and 2 halves of top edge of the sleeve on 2 opposite sides of the shoulder seam, at last sew the sleeve. Rep. same procedure to sew the top edge of second sleeve on opposite side edge of 2 panels.

Sew undersleeve and side seams.

Hide the ends inside the fabric.
