BODY

Patt. body from lower band to armholes.

Cast-on 68 sts. loosely.

1st r. (WS): purl.

2nd r. (RS): knit.

From 3rd to 28th r.: rep. 1st and 2nd r.

29th r.: rep. 1st r.

Cont. working two pieces separately until neckline. At first work on sts. of left front, then work only on sts. of back and at last work on rem. sts. of right front.

NB: to patt. easier, hold all sts. on long cable and cont. only on specified section, leaving the rem. sts.

TOP LEFT FRONT

1st r. (WS): k13, turn and purl back r., leaving the rem. sts. on circular needle.

2nd r. (WS): p13, turn and knit back r.

From 3rd to 14th r.: rep. 1st and 2nd r. At last, bind off all sts.

TOP BACK

1st r. (WS): beg. at 1st st. of 29th r. of body, work k43. Turn and purl the back r., leaving last 13 sts. on circular needle.

2nd r. (WS): p43, turn and knit the back r.

From 3rd to 14th r.: rep. 1st and 2nd r. At last, bind off all sts.

TOP RIGHT FRONT

Patt last 13 sts. of 29th r., as given for top left front.

ARMHOLES SEWING

On WS and using the darning needle, join 13 sts. of 2 fronts with corresponding 13 sts. of back.

SLEEVE

Using circular needle and short cable, pick-up 20 sts. around edge of one armhole and patt in round. PSM in 1st st. of every r., moving it upwards.

For kimono sleeve shaping, patt 1 r. in knit with no incr. and 1 r. in knit increasing 1 st. on the left at beg. of the r. and 1 st. on the right at end of r.

1st round (RS): knit.

2nd round: skp on first 2 sts., knit until last 2 sts., k2tog on last 2 sts.

From 3rd to 24th round: rep. 1st and 2nd round.

25th round: rep. 1st round.

Bind off the sts. shaping a cord band with I-cord technique:at the end of last round, cast-on 3 sts. on left needle, then knit 1st and 2nd st., k-tbl the 3rd st. (cast-on) and 1st st. of 25th round tog., slip these 3 sts. on right needle, * cast-on 3 sts. on left needle, then knit the 1st and 2nd st., k-tbl 3rd st. (cast-on) and next st. of 25th round tog., slip these 3 sts. on right needle *, rep. from * to * until you have bound off all sts.

Shape second sleeve in opposite armhole of cardigan.

RIB BAND

Using circular needles with long cable, patt the band in back-and-forth r.

Beg. at lower corner of right front, pick-up the sts. along edge of right front, around neckline and along edge of left front to lower edge (= 60 sts. approx.).

NB: it doesn’t matter that there are 60 sts. exactly, the important thing is that they are distributed along the edge fairly.

Cont. working 6 r. rib 1/1. At last, bind off all sts.

Hide the ends of thread.
