SHARE:

Each cushion consists of a solid-colored back panel and a front panel made up of 3 sections, each in a different color and stitch pattern. Work the 3 sections of the front panel one after the another, starting from the edge of the previous section. Once completed, join the 2 panels together with a round of sl st.

Chain stitch, slip stitch, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet.
Slip stitch in front loop only: insert the hook only into the front loop of the base st and work a sl st as usual.
Back loop stitches: yarn over (except for sc), insert the hook only into the back loop of the base st and work sc, hdc or dc as usual.

RS = right side of work
WS = wrong side of work
st/sts = stitch/es
col = color
ch = chain stitch
sl st = slip stitch
sc = single crochet
hdc = half double crochet
dc = double crochet
rep = repeat
rep ** = repeat from * to *
foll = follow

Crochet cover: 50 x 50 cm

Procedure

FINISHING

Place the 2 panels together (WS facing WS) and work 1 round of sl st to join them. Skip the first 40 cm along the 1st side, then join the next 10 cm by working 1 sl st through each pair of corresponding sts of both layers. Continue joining the 2nd , 3rd, and 4th sides in the same way, then finish by joining the first 10 cm of the 1st side, leaving a 30 cm opening in the center. Cut the yarn and fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Insert the cushion inside the crochet cover, then using a darning needle and closing thread, sew the opening closed with small stitches, inserting the needle only through the outer loops of each pair of corresponding sts on both layers. Weave in all ends.

Make a second cushion cover using the same process but replace fuchsia with yellow and orange with green.

Throughout the work, always refer diagrams 1 - 2 - 3.

FRONT PANEL

Rope-colored section (diagram 1)

Using rope-col yarn, ch 3.

Row 1 (RS): 1 sc in the 3rd ch from the hook, 3 ch, turn.

Row 2 (WS): 3 ch, (1 sc, 1 ch, 1 sc) in the ch space of row 1, turn.

Row 3: 3 ch, 1 sc in the next ch-1 space, 1 ch, (1 sc, 1 ch, 1 sc) in the last ch-3 space, turn.

Row 4: 3 ch, (1 sc in the next ch-1 space, 1 ch) twice, (1 sc, 1 ch, 1 sc) in the last ch-3 space, turn.

Row 5: 3 ch, (1 sc in the next ch-1 space, 1 ch) rep until the last ch-1 space, (1 sc, 1 ch, 1 sc) in the last ch-3 space, turn.

Rows 6 to 22: rep row 5, increasing 1 ch-1 arch in each row. [22 arches at the end of row 22]

Now, continue by decreasing 1 arch on one side and adding 1 arch on the opposite side to maintain the same st count and shape the section into a rectangle.

Row 23: 1 ch, skip (1 sc, 1 ch, 1 sc), (1 sc in the next ch-1 space, 1 ch) 20 times, (1 sc, 1 ch, 1 sc) in the last ch-3 space, turn. [22 arches]

Row 24: 3 ch, (1 sc in the next ch-1 space, 1 ch) 21 times, 1 sc in the last ch-1 space, turn. [22 arches]

Rows 25 to 34: always rep rows 23 and 24. [22 arches]

Row 35: rep row 23.

From the next row, decrease on both sides to create the point that completes the rectangular motif.

Row 36: 1 ch, skip (1 sc, 1 ch, 1 sc), (1 sc in the next ch-1 space, 1 ch) rep until the second-to-last ch-1 space, 1 sc in the last ch-1 space of the row (diagram 1), turn. [21 arches]

Continue repeating row 36, decreasing 1 arch in each row, until you complete row 56. [1 arch at the end of row 56]

First finishing row for the rope-colored motif (WS): At the end of row 56 (WS), do not turn. Instead, rotate the rectangle 90 degrees and work 35 sc evenly along the long edge of the rectangle motif, turn.

Second finishing row (RS): work 1 flo sl st in each sc across. Cut the yarn and fasten off.

Fuchsia-colored section (diagram 2)

Row 1 (RS): working all sts in blo, in the free loops of the 1st finishing row of the rope-colored rectangle, join the yarn (RS) in the 1st sc of the 1st finishing row, ch 1 (doesn’t count as a st in all rows), 1 hdc in blo in the same base st as the ch, * (1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc in blo) in the next sc, skip 2 base sc *, rep ** across the row, 1 sc in blo in the last sc, turn.

Row 2 (WS): 1 ch and 1 hdc in the 1st sc, * (1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc) in the next dc, skip the hdc and sc) rep from ** across the row, 1 sc in the last hdc, turn.

Rows 3 to 23: rep row 2. Cut the yarn and fasten off.

First finishing row for the 2 joined sections (rope and fuchsia) (WS): using the corresponding col for each section, work sc evenly along the edge of the 2 joined sections, ensuring that the total number of sc is a multiple of 2 1, turn.

Second finishing row (RS): using the corresponding col for each section, work 1 flo sl st in each sc across. Cut the yarn and fasten off.

Orange-colored section (diagram 3)

Row 1 (RS): working all sts in blo, in the free loops of the 1st finishing row of the 2 joined sections, join the yarn (RS) in the 1st sc of the 1st finishing row, ch 1 (doesn’t count as a st in all rows), 1 sc in blo in the same base st as the ch, * (1 ch, skip 1 base st, 1 sc in blo in the next st) rep to the end of the row, turn.

Row 2 (WS): 1 ch and 1 sc in the 1st sc, 1 sc in the next ch-1 space, (1 ch, skip 1 base sc, 1 sc in the next ch-1 space) rep until 1 sc remains, 1 sc in the last sc), turn.

Row 3:1 ch and 1 sc in the 1st sc, (1 ch, skip 1 base sc, 1 sc in the next ch-1 space) rep across the row, placing the last sc in the final sc, turn.

Row 4 (WS): 1 ch and 1 sc in the 1st sc, 1 sc in the next ch-1 space, 1 ch, skip the next sc, (1 sc in the next ch-1 space, 1 ch, skip the next sc) rep until 1 ch and 1 sc remain, 1 sc in the last ch-1 space and sc in the final sc), turn.

Rows 5 to 22: rep rows 3 and 4. Cut the yarn and fasten off.

Using the rope-colored yarn, work 1 round of sc evenly around all 4 sides of the panel, making 3 sc in each corner. Cut the yarn and fasten off.

Weave in all ends, wet and block to the specified measurements.

BACK PANEL

Using the rope-colored yarn, ch a number of stitches equal to the width of one side of the front panel (excluding the edging round), ensuring that the total number of ch is a multiple of 2 1 1 turning ch.

Row 1 (RS): 1 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, (1 ch, skip 1 base st, 1 sc in the next st) rep across the row, turn.

Row 2 (WS): 1 ch and 1 sc in the 1st sc, 1 sc in the next ch-1 space, (1 ch, skip 1 base sc, 1 sc in the next ch-1 space) rep until 1 sc remains, 1 sc in the last sc), turn.

Row 3:1 ch and 1 sc in the 1st sc, * (1 ch, skip the next sc, 1 sc in the next ch-1 space) rep across the row, placing the last sc in the final sc, turn.

Row 4 (WS): 1 ch and 1 sc in the 1st sc, 1 sc in the next ch-1 space, (1 ch, skip 1 base sc, 1 sc in the next ch-1 space) rep until 1 sc remains, 1 sc in the last sc), turn.

Continue repeating rows 3 and 4 until the panel measures the same length as its width. At the end, do not cut the yarn, but work 1 round of sc evenly around the perimeter, making 3 sc in each corner. Cut the yarn and fasten off.

Weave in all ends, wet and block to the specified measurements.
