Merino Gentile Italian Wool

Attention to sustainability is growing all over the world and we as a company have always been attentive to the environment by creating sustainable, ethical and certified yarns, with characteristics that respect the territory, the animals and the workers. Certain that even more could be done, we thought of a wool from the “Km 0 supply chain” from sheep to ball:

The Merino Gentile breed has ancient Italian origins, this breed bred in Southern Italy guarantees a production of wool with a rigorously high quality standard checked. Thanks to the involvement of the breeders, we can certify the origin and traceability of the entire wool supply chain; from harvesting, sorting and selection, until the transformation into combed.

Peculiar characteristics of this wool are the fiber strength, fineness and anti-pilling effect.

Laines du Nord is proud to present this new line entirely “Made in Italy”, two high quality products, selected and controlled, 100% Italian, single color chart for 2 different titles:


Fibers: 100% lana Merino Gentile Italia
Clew: 50g / 160m
Knitting needles: 4 – 4,5
Sample: 21 stitches x 32 rows = 10 x10 cm with 4 mm needles (needle knitting recommended by 4 / 4.5).

100% Italian Gentile Merino wool yarn; resistant, slightly dry to the touch, sliding on the needle knitting, anti-pilling. A very versatile yarn, suitable for various types of processing; perfect for comfortable and informal sweaters, ideal for weaves and stitches in the “Aran” style with rhombuses and braids, particularly suitable for “Fair Isle” processing in several colors, “Nordic” sweaters style.

Knitting needles: 5 – 5,5
Sample: 17 stitches x 24 rows = 10 x10 cm with 5 mm needles (recommended needles 5 / 5.5)

100% Italian Gentile Merino wool yarn; intermediate thickness, slightly elastic, pilling equal to zero, worked is very soft and fluffy, even if it appears to the touchs lightly dryit fills the job well.
Suitable for caps, abundant cardigans, warm pullovers, sports sweaters. Ideal for braid or claw work, versatile, flows well on the needle knitting.
